Saturday, March 27, 2021
4 - 6:30 pm ET
ONLINE (captioned recording available)

This 2.5 hour workshop is an introduction to the relief printing techniques that do not require a printing press. The workshop will be recorded for those who can’t attend live or who want to revisit the information at a later date.

We’ll briefly discuss the history of relief prints, including the inextricable connection between printing and the European witch trials. We’ll go over the basics of transferring images to blocks, as well as carving techniques for wood and linoleum and how to create photopolymer plates using the sun. We’ll also talk about the different types of relief ink, how to hand print with a spoon and baren, and how to use a handheld pin press. The workshop includes multiple demonstrations and there will be ample time for questions.

Optional kits with hand selected items are available for an extra cost and will be mailed directly to students who opt to purchase them. Due to shipping times, the last day to purchase the kits is March 10, 2021.
