WORKSHOP- MARCH 13
WORKSHOP- MARCH 13
Friday, March 13, 2020
7 - 9:30 PM
Dorchester (Boston, MA)*
7 participant maximum
This 2.5 hour workshop is an introduction to the risograph printing process. We’ll talk about the basics of how the machines work and how they’re being used today, and look at examples from our collection.
After a brief intention setting and conversation about the magic of printmaking, we’ll experiment with mark making and collage. Various drawing and collage materials will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring any materials they would like to use or share.
After a demonstration on the risograph, each participant will create their own small edition of 8.5 x 11 inch risograph prints. Participants can either generate artwork from scratch or bring a design to work with, and will be given 30 sheets of paper. Participants will have access to a letter size scanner and laser printer, but anyone who wants to digitally edit work should bring their own laptop + software.
At the end of the workshop, everyone will exchange prints, so each participant will go home with a copy of each print created in addition to their own edition.
*Accessibility Notice: This workshop will take place on the second floor, with no elevator access. The workshop will take place near the Ashmont Red Line MBTA stop, and is accessible through public transportation. Exact address will be sent via confirmation email. There are also cats in the space. A workshop spot has been set aside for one BIPOC to attend free of charge. If this describes you, please email us.
